Are You "Three-Faced?"
There's an ancient Japanese concept known as being "3-faced". This refers to the masks we wear in our daily lives. Mask #1 is the face you present to the wider world when on your best behavior: going on a first date, applying for a job or giving a presentation. Ma s k #2 is the face you present to close friends/family with whom you're most comfortable. Ma sk #3 is the one you present in private--i.e. the "real you". Why is Face #3 the most authentic one? Because it's the version of your-Self you default to when there's no audience watching... no one to impress, convince or placate. π For some people, the gap between Faces #1 & #3 is fairly small.
